Well, my opinion (I know) is US Battery over Trojan. I used Trojans for years, until the life span started suffering. Nowadys Trojans last me 4 years where USB lasts me 7. Both with extreme care (best that I can do).

Have you considered USB?

No, I have a deal here locally between Powertron for $499 for 6 or Trojans for "$100 more". I am thinking the Trojans, mostly because I will be selling in a year and I know that Trojans have a good name.......

KGB, last ones I bought were made by Bulldog. Looked to be a good battery and were right at $100 each for the 8 volt.

Those are the correct hold downs. The old J bolt is gone. Attached is a crude picture of how it attaches to the battery tray. I was too lazy to pull a battery and take an actual picture.

Tie a string or something on the rod near the bottom of the threads.
The rods have a nasty habit of falling between the batteries and are "fun" to fish out without removing a battery.
