Best upgrade for sure you wont regret. I went from 36v stock PDS too ,600 alltrax 8 6volts 2ga cables and plumquick motor, real fun to drive and love the torque. Speed is great for streets, dont pis? the cars off anymore.

Going 48 is well worth it , but go 8- 6 volt configuration best way to go , I know it hurts the pocket book but in long run its worth it , longer run time and longer life span for batteries
Cheers!

Don't discount 42v in a sepex cart either. I have 42v in my 08PDS with pkg 808 and D&D speed motor... Nice little run about.

Yes it is worth it. Take a look at my review for my recent 36 V to 48 V conversion

http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/elect...rsion-wow.html

I initially bought one new 6 V battery to replace a shorted out battery when I bought my cart before I found this site and read and learned a lot of things. Well, I was initially just going to just stick with my 36 V pack and upgrade the controller but read mixed reviews of the true increase in top end speed. The seller I bought the 6 V Trojan from was nice enough to let me return it and buy 6 x 8 V batteries instead (as I really needed a new full set of batteries anyway). I sold my stock 36 V charger for $200 , so I was only out around $100 for a new charger plus the cost of the controller and new cables.

In the end, the conversion was totally worth it. When you drive your new cart, you'll forget how much you spent on it because you'll find that every penny was worth it. No regrets here whatsoever.

Looks like I'm completely convinced....now to convince the wife lol. I think the controller will be my first purchase and get it out of the way. Then sell the stock controller, solenoid, and charger and then buy new batteries and a charger.

That would be a good sequence of events if your budget doesn't all upgrades all at once

If you want to extend the useful live of your existing battery pack a little while so you can upgrade the controller and stuff for 48V, try charging the living daylights out of them.

The batteries in my cart would on charge to 85% when I got it and I charged them repeatedly with little or no discharge between charges for a couple weeks and got them up to 95%. I ran them for nearly two years before I upgraded tho a 42V pack and they were still going strong when I replaced them. YMMV, but it wouldn't hurt to give it a try if you need some time to get things lined up and on budget.
