300 Amp alltrax controller/ stock motor
I have been fixing up this 1995 medalist over the last year.... I have it running and works great on level surface. Uphills its terrible haha..... I installed a alltrax spm 48300 series controller in it because the stock controller was fried. Is there upgraded motor to buy to help this thing climb hills a little faster without getting a bigger controller???? I now have off road tires on it, but will be replacing them with street tires shortly. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

Re: 300 Amp alltrax controller/ stock motor
Have you changed the batteries to 48 volt???? I think a 95 model were 36 volt batteries. If they have not been changed.

The battery terminals on 8V batteries are both on same side, so you may also have to replace some of the high current cables the connect the batteries in series. The off-road tires are most likely taller than 18" (stock), which is reducing the amount of torque the cart has, and limiting its ability to climb hills. Upping the pack voltage to 48V will increase both torque and speed. |

Re: 300 Amp alltrax controller/ stock motor
I just bought 6 new 6 volt batteries sat, just called the place I bought em from and he said I can swap em out for 6 8 volts. I just want to make sure this stock motor will for sure handle 48 volts before I swap em.

The stock motor will run just fine on 48v but you will need a 48v pre-charge resistor and a 48v battery charger.

Re: 300 Amp alltrax controller/ stock motor
Does anyone know a part number for the solenoid that I need to get to fit the alltrax spm controller in order to upgrade from 36v to 48v? Does it have to be a H.D. one ? and do I have to replace FWD Reverse switch as well?

It's probably worth your while to call Scotty at Carts Unlimited (see above) to talk about the specifics and get his 48 volt charger, great price for a quality charger.
