Default Help with ezgo

I have a 1980 EZGO Textron that I renovated using solid state parts from a 1994 cart. I used i wiring schematic from the internet and believe that it is wired correctly. When I press the accelerator, all I get is the solenoid click. No motion in forward or reverse. I tried connecting a 12v battery to the motor on pole A1 and A2 and got nothing. When I tried A1 to S1 or S2 I got spark but no motion. Should I have disconnected all the leads to the motor first? How can I tell if it is the wiring or the motor? Last piece of information, instead of using six 6V batteries, I am using three 12V deep-cycle marine batteries.

Attached are the wiring schematic and modified version for 3 batteries

Eighteen 2V cells will produce 36V, no matter how many cells are packed in each box, however 6V batteries tend to have far higher Amp-Hour capacities than 12V batteries and Marine batteries are not true Deep-Cycle batteries, so your run-time may leave a lot to be desired.

Except for feeding 12V to the 6V reverse beeper, it appears that you moved the high current cable and the smaller gauge charging cable from the terminal designated BR- to the terminal designated BL-. That should work.

To check the motor, jack the rear wheels off the ground and remove all cables from the motor. Connect as shown in drawing from Carts Unlimited.
12V may not be enough to turn it and 24V may spin it pretty fast.

Also, here is a schematic for the cart.

According to the picture I should disconnect motor from cart and;

1. - Connect negative to A1
2. - Connect positive to S2
3. - Jump A2 to S1, or is that an internal connection inside the motor?

And thanks for the quick reply!

Is it possible you have a mismatched accelerator? There are ITS and pot boxes, and they are different.

The picture very purposefully shows the motor attached to the differential. Spinning the motor disconnected from the cart will result in damage and possible injury.

Tough to answer since I don't understand what you are asking
I pulled the resistor based stuff out, and replaced with solid state.

The accelerator goes to the controller, which came with the 94 motor/axle, drive selector switch, etc. I basically took all the components from a 1994 and put it into a 1980 body. So there shouldn't be any mismatch. I'm just not certain that the motor was ever working. And since I pulled everything out and didn't take pictures, I wasn't certain where everything went back

I can take pictures for you to see, but it is raining today and I won't get to it until tomorrow.

I meant disconnect the wires from the motor to the cart. So the motor is only connected to the battery(ies) and not any cart wires.

well I disconnected the wire from the cart to the motor and tested as above, no motion. Found that several of the connectors are loose and spin, which would indicate that the internal wiring is messed up. Time to get it rebuilt.
