Speed chip not working ?
Good afternoon, I am new to this forum so please bear with me, I have a 2007 EZ-Go TXT 36 volt pds cart. it has had new batts about 3 months ago. The batts are at 38.7 volts. It used to go about 19 mph but now only runs 13 mph. It has a red speed chip in it. I can take the chip out and it does not change the top speed when i put it back in. Any suggestions ?

Re: Speed chip not working ?
I think on the older PDS controllers you had to turn the RUN/TOW switch
to TOW before changing 'chips' (plugging or unplugging). Then change the 'chip' and turn the switch back to 'RUN'. That is why you cannot change speed modes 'on the fly'. Newer PDS, maybe you can change on the go. Also, you will save your controller from being damaged if you always turn it to TOW before doing any electrical work. |

Re: Speed chip not working ?
Chip should be installed when in Tow mode. Once you have done this and gone back to Run you can put the cart in diagnostic mode to determine if the controller sees the chip. It will beep 4 times when it goes into diag mode to tell you the setting.

Re: Speed chip not working ?
Thanks. When I go to diagnostics mode it beeps 4 times so I think it is recognizing it is in freedom chip mode but it is still only running 13 mph. I always put it in tow when not in use or when I work on it. I replaced the speed sensor a few months back. The cart runs good but only 13 mph.

Re: Speed chip not working ?
4 beeps is the freedom chip so good there. Try driving it in maintenance mode and see if you get any other beeps.
