Default 36v non DCS white rodgers solenoid cross reference question

I have a bad standard white rodgers 36v solenoid 70-120224

here is my question... it's the 4th of july

Can I run down to the local auto parts and pick one up?

If so what do I tell them specifically for a cross reference...

They speak auto not carts LOL

Thanx in advance

Unlikely. Cars are 12 volts. You need 36 volts at high amperage, constant duty. Any buggy shops near you that may be open half a day today?

NOPE NON OPEN

Anyone know how to repair one... the problem is on the high energy side

I undid the 2 nuts and attempted to free them cause I am certain one are both is welded solid???

1 bolt side seems free but the other feels like the plunger is stuck to it

thanx

Well here's the partial answer

duralast solenoid U1458 at autozone $68.00

Oreilly BWD s606 68.00

both have to order it and 68.00 is rediculous

I don't know how to open yours, but I had to do an emergency repair several years ago for a 4th of July parade. It worked.

Mine wasn't welded, it just overheated and became intermittent. Generally, anything that was assembled can be disassembled.

You wouldn't happen to be anywhere near Atlanta would you? I have a HD 36 volt solenoid I'm not using.

If it's already broken, you have nothing to lose.

As to the price you were quoted, check prices on http://www.cartsunlimited.net/Custom_Options.html towards the bottom of the page. These HD solenoids are more robust than a standard 36 volt solenoid. I melted two OEM solenoids before upgrading, with an all stock cart.

Once I got stuck way off the pavement with a bad solenoid and I just put both high amperage solenoid cables on the same terminal and drove it home. Now it worked but it was not completely safe as the power was on to the controller all the time until I disconnected the cable. But I got home in a pinch.

That would certainly work for a 4th of July parade. Just remember to put the FNR in N anytime you aren't driving. It's your only "kill switch" on the heavy current circuit.
