Ok, pulled it off the charger. Towed over to the heated work space for work later. Noticed that the S/G belt will occasionally slip on the starter pulley when it is trying to start...

Got some decent time in and got her running!

First off, I never got a pic of it for you guys

The issue with it not running ended up being a clogged fuel line. After that, and a cleaning of the carb, I have it running pretty well

It was about then that I pulled the access cover off and found this

Now, remember this is (or was) a new S/G that was "installed" by someone other than me or the customer in an attempt to fix the charging problem. Pulled the vice grips off and found out why they are on there. The ground cable broke at the terminal and this was the "shop's" way of fixing it. Also, that same stud is loose, so it will need a new S/G (also courtesy of whoever installed it)

As for testing the charging issue, had about 12.6v on the battery off the charger. Load tested at 11 with an HF load tester. With the cart ideling, I had the 12.6v on the battery. With the cart at mid-throttle, the battery was at 11v, and dropped as low as 9v at times. Don't know what to do about that issue

I saw your request in the for sale forum, and had to come an take a peek!

Love the Vice Grips!
Yes, you need a voltage regulator!
and how loose is the S/G post? does it spin all the way around? or just a little movement?

Didn't try to spin it all the way around, but it wiggles

You might want to try and take two of the same size nuts, and lock them together at the top of the post,
then lightly tighten the stud hold down nut!
as long as the connection inside of the S/G isn't broken... you might just be able to to tighten the stud down!

(just thinkin' out loud... ya' never know! )

Well in the process of trying to take the top nut off, the top half of the stud broke off

Do you think I'd be better off trying to repair the S/G or just find a used one?
