Re: 2011 Yamaha Drive speed code question
Yamaha speed code and larger wheels will get you past 20 mph which seems fast enough for me. $125 for code to get to 19 mph and then some used 20.5" wheel/tire combos. you dont need to buy the fancy new chrome or aluminum wheels.

Re: 2011 Yamaha Drive speed code question
I know this is an old post and don't mean to steal your thread but why are headlights required to install the speed upgrade code?

Re: 2011 Yamaha Drive speed code question
By installing the code, it's being converted from a golf cart into a PTV by ANSI definition of what a golf cart is (slow). The definition of what a PTV is includes things like headlights, turn signals, reflectors, ect.

In short, You can't buy it unless your a dealer. And besides, it would do you no good. Every carts PTV speed code is unique, and has to be ordered from Yamaha (and the group that does PTV speed codes doesn't talk to "end users", only dealers). First question they ask when they pick up phone is "May I please have your dealer number, and first name?" |

Re: 2011 Yamaha Drive speed code question
Cgtech, I have a question for you. I ordered a speed code form a Yamaha dealer. They hooked up there little machine and said they programmed it to 19. I saw when they did read mode that it was at 19. When I drove it, it felt the same. It stayed around 14-15 mph. The batteries are Trojan and are a week old. I know that you pay Yamaha for a certain code specific to my cart. When the guy programmed my cart, he never put a specific code, which I have on a sticker on my golf cart. Should he have had to put that number that I paid for from Yamaha into his computer while hooked up to my cart? All he did was log into his little tablet with the connected piece attached to my cart. The only number he put in the tablet was the log in number for his tablet. He never had to put “my” number in while programming. Is that right?

Re: 2011 Yamaha Drive speed code question
Nope, not right. The numbers on the grid arent representative of MPH anyway. (19 on the grid doesnt equal 19 mph). Without the PTV speed code, the grid has 1-25 as available selections, 1 being slowest & most regen, 25 being fastest & least regen (but still not even 19 mph). Ptv speed code unlocks an extra column on the grid with 5 letters which are all 19mph settings with more, or less regen.
Sounds like they are either dishonest, or just dont have a clue what they're doing. |

Re: 2011 Yamaha Drive speed code question
I don’t believe they are dishonest, just don’t know what they are doing. Have bought several things over years from this dealer. He mostly deals with gas. Anyways, thank you so much for your prompt response. I will show them your message and hopefully we can get it figured out! Thanks again!!

Re: 2011 Yamaha Drive speed code question
One more question, at any point do they have to type on the speed code which is 5 digits long?

Re: 2011 Yamaha Drive speed code question
Just before you get to the grid. And they must use the Genius 2 app. There will be a login screen after the app is started. There is a generic code that will get you into any controller, but without the PTV column present, and your PTV code must be entered at every login.
