g 16 starting problem
have a g16 that will not start. the starter motor turns over but engine will not start. there is spark at the plug, and it is getting gas. you can hear the motor try to start but will not catch. Pulled plug and put in some starting fluid, put plug back in and still will not fire. It will backfire once in a while while trying to start. can anyone help.....

Re: g 16 starting problem
Check the valve lash, perhaps they are loose?

Re: g 16 starting problem
You also should confirm that compression is good. Are you pulling the choke while trying to start?? Is the plug fouled (black & nasty) ?? A fouled plug may spark when out of the engine, but will not spark in the engine under compression. Try a new plug (cheap)!! Advise findings for more help. Good luck - RAY
