Timing marks for engine assembly
Hey can I see a picture of timing gears on a G2 4 stroke. The cam crank and balancer all only have 1 mark. I would think the crank would have to have two marks, one for cam and one for balancer. The crank has a little punch like divet in it and so does the cam, I assume these line up. But I dont know what to line the balancer up with.

Re: Timing marks for engine assembly
Welcome to BGW
check out this thread and see if it helps http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/gas-y...tml#post316629 I just finished rebuilding a G9 that didnt have any markings on the cranks counter balance gear as well. And its a bit tricky to get right, but there is a way. I took a look through my stash of pics and this should help expain how to line them up. On the crank you will only see one indicating mark, that one you line up with the mark on the cam gear. Now the balancer shaft, has a mark on it as well. With the 2 other marks lined up, line up the balancer shaft so that the mark is pointing towards the middle of the crank. Some of the yamaha cranks just didnt have 2 indicating marks on the crank gear.. well the ones that ive seen.. Supposively in the rebuild manual these 2 marked cranks existed. lol Dont forget to prelube the crank bearings and such when you put the engine back together, this will help pervent a dry start and seize the motor. |

Re: Timing marks for engine assembly
there is suppose to be a ink mark on the crank for the balancer, but it goes away,
line up the crank/cam, then see where the balancer is, play with it and you will see that it can only be in one spot to line up , you will have to turn the crank to the left to let the balancer in. |
