Default G2 Problems..Wont hold charge!

I have a g2 that will not hold charge..Put a brand new battery and it lasted all of about two days..

as the battery seems to get weak it is like there is a delay from when i push the gas to when it actually gets power??

Starter/generator?

I have a cheap cd player installed with 5" speakrs..could this have caused the generator to go bad?

thanks

First, go to the stickies and get a wiring diagram for your cart. Then, I would suspect in this order. #1-Voltage regulator. #2-Some phantom current draw when the cart is off. #3-Starter/generator (if the cart is starting this is probably ok, but the generator winding should be checked for continuity). Start by charging your battery fully. Check regulator by puting a voltmeter on the battery. Initially bat. voltage should be 12.5-12.7 v. Then run the cart in neutral or with wheels jacked up. Battery voltage should rise to 14.5 - 15.5 volts. If no voltage rise, regulator or generator winding could be bad. Check the generator winding resistance (red and green wire at generator). Should be around 5 ohms. Finally if everything is checking out ok, make sure your battery is not supplying current to something when it's off. (like maybe a bulb in your stereo, etc.) Good luck and report what you find - RAY
