I just take the line off the carb and use a catch bottle, run on starter and watch it pump. Should squirt out every revolution. Check the vent and/or cap on your fuel tank make sure its not causing it. You might leave the cap on loose (like half way) and see if it does it long as gas does not splash out. Note that if you have low tank and the pump gets air it is not that good at re-priming. But it would not prime fast like you say it takes a while. I have a filter by the engine it is half full of air all the time but will be empty if I run out. Crack in the tank fuel line can cause air to get in, crack in pulse line makes the signal weaker. Unlikely but ensure float is not sticking.

Lurch, carry an extra spark plug with you. Next time it quits, pull the plug wire and connect and ground the extra plug. Wind it over ta see if there is spark. (OLD "Crash" trick)!!

Seems like every time I hear this story, its an ignition problem! Bad igniter! Or pedel switch.

I'd start with the pedel switch, cycle many times, for continuity. Maybe spray contact cleaner into it, to clean as well as check connectors there. Yamaha shop tested my coil, and said "It tests good at this time" So they suggested, probably bad ignitor on my G8. Also check "grounds" make sure clean and tight.

But if you HAVE spark, then if it were me when it stopped, I would start to remove the carb. bowl to see if fuel starts leaking out of it. If no fuel in bowl, then I would trouble shoot fuel issue. Also if fuel problem, I would think it would have symtems of running out of gas , not just quit. On your car isn't there a fuel pick-up in the tank, that can deterierate and suck air? I think yours sucks fuel out the top. Mine's gravity feed from bottom of tank.

Guy's I want to thank all of you for your help, I got it fixed today but not without realizing how big of an idiot I can be sometimes. Several people had told me to check it but I new that I had just installed it and just didn't think thats what it was.
The problem I think was oil in the vacuum line, I had done the Governor bypass the day it messed up and had jacked the rear of the cart up real high off the ground and also had made the high speed pass of 34 mph so it could have sucked oil into the line. I don't know what was in it but I took it off the pump and tried to blow through it and nothing so I done the big huff and puff thing and whatever it was came out and now it runs like a champ!!!!!

Thank's again, LURCH!!!!!
