82 Club Car 36V Inoperative
Just bought the cart in June used, had trouble going up my driveway hill, and cart was slow, then began lurching last week, smelled a carbon smell, then was dead on the road Sunday Jul 23. Batteries measure good 6.5 V (water level OK) / connections appear good, suspect motor brushes but the guy I bought it from stated he just replaced them for the sale.
Any suggestions on what is wrong? Pushing accelerator now cart does not move, or vibrates just slightly trying to move in FWRD or REV. |

Jackbob, have you checked out the solenoids? If they are original they could be pretty burned out and won't allow current to pass. Disconnect the battery lead to the motor and energize the solenoid with an ohmmeter across the big connections. If the reading is near zero they are o.k. if not make sure the brushes are seat to the motor commutator and the pigtails are tight.

Welcome to the forum jackbob...........................
Check all battery cables. Tug & pull on them. If they are not tight and clean, they can cause they symptoms you are having. |

I have one known bad solenoid that I discovered last night, just ordered it online today, it is the fourth out of 5 solenoids, don't see how this failure is casuing complete inoperation.

Rusty is correct... battery connections can make all sortsmof wierd things happen. I have learned to clean and tighten all electrical connections in the motor and control circuits but I can still overlook the obvious but thats cause I'm old.
