Re: 1992 G9 No Spark
Not sure where you are with sorting out this problem, but just thought I'd jump in to try to help. After seeing your burned wires at the regulator I think you should check to make sure that the ground circuit is solid to "all" devices by putting ohmmeter on battery negative, then probe the black wire directly at each device for continuity. If that checks out, I would then check for +12 volts (with ign and accel sw on) on the red/white wires directly at each device. (you might want to disable the solenoid for this test to keep the cart from cranking). I'm thinking this might highlight a wiring (burned wire) problem for you. - RAY

Re: 1992 G9 No Spark
Thanks bigstik, I think I'll put that on the agenda prior to gutting the wiring to see if I find fault leading to a particular area.
The tape is half falling off in many spots and double taped where wire has been added for lights. I may pick up some small loom & just do away with the tape all together. |

Re: 1992 G9 No Spark
A quick test, check ground to engine and TCI/CDI wireharness coupler and also 12 volts possitive at the coupler going into the TCI. 12 volts positive at the coil (orange lead) would be a good test of the ignition system also. Wish I had a good used wire harness to send you.

Re: 1992 G9 No Spark
I just ran this test.
Disconnected batt. neg. & DMM black to neg. (black) battery cable Continuity to engine case, OK. Continuity to igniter connector, black, OK. Also noticed continuity to igniter connector, r/w and to orange. Both with about 23 ohm resistance. Gonna hook up the battery now & get some voltage tests. |

Re: 1992 G9 No Spark
Appreciate the thought, smallblock, really!
I have the harness out & stripping it down (with before pics & wire ties at branches). I'll go through it wire by wire & see what I find. Pretty sure I hear the lake calling me again, may have to heed the call, get out there in the mornin & see about getting back to this after Thanks for your help |

Re: 1992 G9 No Spark
We know that 11.1 volts on the red/white wire is not what it should be!! Not sure what voltage you should expect on the orange wires, but it would appear that the orange wire is shorted to the red/white wire somewhere. The missing 1.6 volts is being dropped somewhere !! (Maybe across the fuse). That good used harness is looking better and better. Keep on searching, you'll get it !- RAY

Re: 1992 G9 No Spark
Try taking the voltage measurements with the CDI module unplugged. Maybe the module is bad and has red/white to orn shorted internally.

Thanks bigstik! Got the harness off & partially stripped. Gonna dig back into it when I get off the water
