secondary clutch vibrating and belt not riding all the way down
The cart has great torque, but at higher speeds around 15 mph a vibration occurs. I replaced the belt and the primary. When I look into the sheaves of driven I noticed the belt never reaches to the bottom. I also noticed that it is not in the proper location to ride on the little "kisser" buttons. Its on the complete other side of the helix. I can grab both sides of the driven and rotate them, is this normal?
Not sure if the red spring is too strong for my application and thats why it doesn't open all the way or if there is another problem. Picture is attached. Cart is 1996 yamaha g16. Lifted with bigger tires, besides that stock. top speed is maybe 18-20 mph with the governor cranked. |

Get rid of that spring, there are only 2 springs out there for a Yamaha, the "umax" (genuine Yamaha) or a spring from Don Plowman!!
Also, if the sliding sheave is not genuine Yamaha, I would replace that as well, genuine Yamaha or Don Plowmans are the only way to go!! The China sheave can explode, under high performance use!! |

Wow, that spring looks bent! Throw it away. Check the bushing in the sheave when you take it down, it may be damaged.
Mike, what's up with these massive red springs?? This is the second one I've seen in the last couple of weeks causing issues with the secondary. Not sure where these are coming from but they do not need to be on carts. |

I don't know Sprid!! Probably eBay stuff!! Personally, I run from eBay!! |

I run from any China made crap! Accident waiting to happen and death trap for some! Had a lot of headaches with several Kazuma 4 wheelers. Practically had to rebuild the framework on two of them and replace every (and I mean every) bolt/nut on them things. JUNK!! YES, be sure to go back with Yamaha or high quality parts. Anything from Plowman's will be of the highest quality! |

Re: secondary clutch vibrating and belt not riding all the way down
I have a cut sheave from CPP and I can tell you its a heavy one, but no name on it.
The CVT has to work well or you wont get your power to the ground! It can make a big difference. That sounds like a secondary issue, check it out. It should not have any wobble to it when it spins, the belt never goes all the way to the bottom, if you look you can see where it comes together the belt can't go that far. The belt should go to the top of your primary however and that is how you tell it is working right, unless the engine have been moved or the wrong size belt is on there. The distance is fixed to work correctly. |

I've never seen a driven clutch explode on a golf cart, they don't make enough power.
