Default Oil Plug Adapter

First I want to thank Dave Maner for figuring out that the oil plug is patterned as a bolt. That said I had to buy 10 - 20mm x 2.5 allen bolts so I could have one or 2. There huge and they fit the oil plug hole perfectly. This is the first one I made. It was a little time consuming cause there grade 12 metric bolts. They drill hard - cut slowly. I'm using it in my 460 in my utility truck. I didn't cut any wrench flats on it -- it doesn't need that tight with the rubber o-ring. Tapped to 1/8x27 npt the sender fit nice.

Here is the only photo I have of mine. As you can see I used a bolt and left the hex head although I did cut it down so it wasn't so thick. I also drilled a 5/8 inch hole in about 1/2 inch starting at the cut down head of the bolt and then I threaded the rest to fit a 1/8 npt. I wanted the tip of the sensor to stick out of the adapter so it would get oil directly splashed on it. I put this in my rear fill hole. Used a rubber o-ring for a seal. My oil temp gauge works good

Let me add: I purchased two 1 inch long 20mmx2.5 pitch bolts so I'd have an extra in case I messed one up. I purchased them at Fastenal. Seems like they cost me close to 10 bucks total.

My lathe/mill is a Grizzly and I have to admit it isn't the best although it is better than not having one.

I lied I found another photo looking in from the head of the bolt.
