no ground to solenoid
can someone tell me if the controller grounds the solenoid and if so will it hurt anything to let the key switch do it . When I jump ground to solenoid cart works fine g19 yamaha

The controller does indeed manage the solenoid B-. And the keyswitch doesn't deal in B-, it only has one B+ in, and one out. I'm not sure what the consequences would be of using something else to control the solenoid, but I do feel it should probably be an added switch at the gas pedal, so if the controller decides to fail at full throttle, your next action would result in power going away.

In the Ezgo where the controller supplied both the + and - of the solenoid activation circuit, when the - side failed we would run a - from the controller B- or battery main - to the solenoid and the cart seemed to work as usual without any ill effect I know of. Not saying it's the same here but it sure sounds similar.
Always make sure the solenoid disengages when not in use. |

In a Yamaha sepex, the B+ is always there whenever the tow/run is in Run, then the controller manages B-.
