Ds rev limiter/governor
I havent done the zip tie mod. There's a machined clutch with spring, as well as a cleaned and new 1 way bearing in the other. Jetted with a k&n filter. Well in maintenance mode with no zip tie mod it's hitting the limiter? Anyone have any ideas lol

Re: Ds rev limiter/governor
You want to slow it down so it doesn't hit the limiter? Readjust the governor &/or throttle cable. If you want to let it let'er rip? Disconnect the brown wire on the limiter.

Re: Ds rev limiter/governor
If it’s in maintenance mode with no load on the engine and you stand on the gas pedal and hold it to the floor, I’d be surprised if it DIDNT bounce off the rev limiter. Kinda the reason why it’s there…
As long as it doesn’t keep bouncing off the rev limiter when you actually drive the cart then I don’t understand what the problem is. If it does constantly hit the rev limiter while actually driving the cart then it’s a different story… |

Re: Ds rev limiter/governor
Get a tacometer, remove the rev limiter, keep her under 4,000 rpm.
With the machined clutch, you're not spinning the secondary clutch at full speed, so the motor is revving higher. It will eventually get there, but it takes longer. Like CP said, it's gonna bounce off the limiter with the wheels off the ground. |

Re: Ds rev limiter/governor
I read an article some time back where someone was suggesting loosening the lock nut on the governor shaft where it would freely turn inside the link/arm, effectively disabling the speed governor. This was supposed to be an alternative to altering the spring to gain more speed. Sounded like something I wouldn't even want to attempt, but might bear looking at. Somebody might have followed that questionable advise and the governor might not be functioning. Check and adjust.

Re: Ds rev limiter/governor
I thought about running the cable that goes from the control box to the governor straight to the carb. The cable should be plenty long enough, I just don't want to be on the rev limiter all the time.

I’d try setting the linkages and governor right. Rather than try and hack something |
