fairplay zx4 motor
I have a 2007 Fairplay 6P zx4.0 with what appears to be a motor issue. It started stuttering when I press down on the accelerator and need a push to get it going but seemed fine while in motion reverse is even worse. I took off the cover to observe the motor and saw wisp of smoke when I got it moving so I stopped it before it got worse. I Believe water may have got into the motor. I am leaving it alone for a week or two in storage.
Is this motor done or can it be repaired? motor specs - DC motor Model XQ-3-4T-2 48 volts Rating 60 minutes Amb 40 deg celcius Wound Shunt Insulation class H Max HP 4 |

Re: fairplay zx4 motor
You may have a problem with the speed sensor or just the moisture. Dry it out and see what happens.
With the exception of the metric bolts and possibly the speed sensor, I believe an EZGO motor will bolt right up to your Fairplay. Any of the motor rebuilders/rewinders can probably help you. There's 3 or 4 of them and one of them here, PQ should be able to help. PQ Link: http://www.plumquick.com/ |

Re: fairplay zx4 motor
Yes, the motors are the same, but you have to use a speed sensor from a Club Car Precedent. To test the speed sensor, hook the red wire to + on a 9 volt battery, and black to the -. It should read 1.8 mv. on the green wire. now insert a magnet and it should drop in voltage. if no change, the sensor is bad.

Re: fairplay zx4 motor
I have a 1970 Cushman golf cart. Need to find out how to wire the GE DC motor for forward and reverse. It has one positive terminal and three other terminals. The forward and reverse switch an either "H" or "T" wiper, with four contacts. One of the contact goes to the negative battery terminal. How should the four contact forward/reveerse be configured/? Appreciate any help.

Re: fairplay zx4 motor
use old model ez-go marathon wiring diagram. if the posts are all in a line, use the diagram for an old melex.
