New 86 owner with starter question
Forgive me if this has been addressed before.
I just bought an 86 Gas Club Car. Seems to run pretty well except for 1 thing. At times when I step on the gas to start it nothing happens for a few seconds then finally it will crank. Doesn’t happen every time but is annoying when it does. Is it the Starter/Generator brushes? How difficult are they to change? Thanks |

Re: New 86 owner with starter question
when you say nothing, is that nothing as in nothing or nothing as in the starter may be spinning but the belt is slipping on the pulley?

Sorry Aaron... I had to fix it a bit!

A worn, or loose belt will cause the starter/generator to turn, but, not turn the engine over... is this your problem? |

Re: New 86 owner with starter question
Nothing except the Solenoid click. The starter does not run. If I hold my foot down, the starter will eventually run and the cart will start. Note: This does not happen all the time but more times than not.

Re: New 86 owner with starter question
I've had the same thing happen to me when the belt is "too tight",
but for an 86... the brushes may need replacing, and from what i've read here though out the years, it's not that difficult! |

Re: New 86 owner with starter question
HEY!!!
Deep in thought... Maybe I shouldn't have corrected DOOms in that post 3 days ago, maybe I should have bought a rock from gleemo a year and a half ago?... it wouldn't matter, they still won't be my friends... oh wait, they ARE! man... my neck hurts, I need to quit falling asleep in my computer chair, I have to get my lucky Packer shirt on for the game... can't let the Bears win, Man, I feel like shhhhht... I'm not as young as I used to be, News Years kicked my butt!, maybe I should quit drinking so early in the day, ahhh... screw it!... and maybe... OH CRAP! what if sams the newbee can read this in the "default style" screen? Nahhh... the only ways are "emerald" or "Quote" Ummm... yeah... check the battery cables first! |
