Default 96 club car wont start

I have a 96 gas club car will turn over but no spark can some one answer these questions?
1. turn key to start but nothing happens I do get 12 volts to both small terminals on solenoid when key is in start position. If I jump the large posts engine turns over no spark
2. does the solenoid need to be grounded?
3. tried pulling ground from rev limiter still no spark, tried grounding igniter to block while connecting igniter to coil no spark
4. have read if I'm going to replace igniter and or coil I should update the coil to newer style with built in igniter can anyone advise how to wire newer style into old style

Default Re: 96 club car wont start

I'll try to help out! 96 carts suck because they changed alot of stuff that year, in the middle of the year!!!!

1. Sound like the Solenoid is bad, I had same thing happen. If you have power to the small posts it should turn over! Also could be bad micro switch or relay if your cart has that?
2. Depends but yes other small terminal white wire ground.
3. Leave the ground on the rev limiter and ignitor, which is same location and wire, under front of engine.
4. You can use either the new or old style, they both plug right in! The new style just has no wire running from the ignitor to the rev limiter, doesn't change how it is hooked up!! Wire from coil to rev limiter wyed off to limit switch.
