Re: 85 ezgo marathon can’t get it started for very long
So I do have a pedal switch I found in the parts box that came with it not sure how I’d install it to where the switch would depress and activate the switch

Re: 85 ezgo marathon can’t get it started for very long
Ok. I managed to watch both videos.
In the first one it ran good until it didn't. I was watching the blue fuel line between the pump, and the carb. It wasn't pulsing the way it should be. If you had a fuel filter in there, it's never supposed to be full, but there should be a steady pulse of fuel. I really think it's running out of gas. In the second video, you were operating the choke with your finger, but the throttle was never moving. That means it never really had a chance to speed up. It was never going to do anything until the throttle gets opened. I also noticed that your choke lever is vertical. That means it's a BV24 from a 1988 cart. It's larger than the BV18 that your cart should have. To make it worth while, you also need the 1988 muffler. This is the second video to make it easier on people to find. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W_vMEQqXss4 I have no idea how you managed to already get a thousand views while the other one has three. EDIT: I went to look again. WHERE IS YOUR MUFFLER? The muffler creates the correct amount of back pressure to run correctly. This is the first video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PEOCiMSRnIw Also make sure you are mixing your fuel 128:1. |

Re: 85 ezgo marathon can’t get it started for very long
Having watched several more times, I now see that in both videos the throttle is wide open. It should be screaming.
It looks like there are a few issues to work through. The first is fuel delivery. It could quite possibly be seals. It could also be a clogged pump. You then need to control both the ignition, and the throttle at the same time. When it was running good, it sounded normal. It wasn't loud. There has to be some kind of cobbled muffler on there that we can't see. |

Re: 85 ezgo marathon can’t get it started for very long
So I’ll attach a few pictures one of the straight pipe they put for the exhaust as well as the other carb that came with it the microswitch and the ground for the module. So I did flip the wires on module and it did run better in forward now. In regards to the fuel pump when I pull the blue fuel line from the pump it’s spurts gas but doesn’t have a straight stream of fuel. Possibly a bad fuel pump?

Also I know the gas they had in said the mixture was 32:1 . How do I go about connecting the pedal switch to the cable and no idea how one video got 1k views that’s weird I can take a video of what the fuel coming out of the fuel pump is doing and post that as well if that would help you

Re: 85 ezgo marathon can’t get it started for very long
Look at page F-2 of the manual. You can see the cam that transitions between the pedal rod, and the throttle cable. That's where the switch mounts.
Put a meter on the switch before you install it. Make sure it opens and closes. That's not even close to being the right exhaust, but since that's all there is we are stuck with it. Somebody really butchered this cart up for you. Both of those carburetors are the same. Both are most likely aftermarket garbage. Just having a spurt from the pump is fine. I think there are bigger issues here, or possibly a combination of smaller issues. I'm really reluctant to tell you to yank the engine and replace the seals when there are possibly so many other issues here. |

Re: 85 ezgo marathon can’t get it started for very long
Ok found it thanks! So I should definitely order a muffler then? I’ll see is the switch opens and get that hooked up I still don’t think it’s getting the right amount of gas so maybe I need to start with the right mixture since it will run on starter fluid better

I don't think mufflers are available. I would keep my eyes open for a cheap donor cart.
This forum also has a parts for sale section for members. You might get lucky in here. https://buggiesgonewild.com/forumdisplay.php?f=26 You would need the muffler and the connecting pipe. |

So this is what I have found that’s around I can keep my eyes out for one . Do you think it will run ok with the current setup or there won’t be enough back pressure to run correctly

Good evening! So I did get the wiring all done and it works with the pedal switch so that’s good also what size inline fuse should I put in? I’m gonna hook it up to fresh gas tomorrow and see what she does
