How Does the Governor Work...G16
Hi guys...you all know I've been playing with an Equus tach.
I've read all of your helpful posts, and I am appreciative. I still need to order the splice and maybe a new plug...but there's something about the tach that makes me wonder. When the tach is hooked up...it reads right to 3200...then drops to about 1200. When I get off the gas...then back on...it'll be okay again until 3200. I mean...it's always right at 3200. Even after fiddling with the governor...same thing. Okay...so I'm wondering...is there some sort of spark shut off...or partial spark shut off at a given RPM? That would explain the tach shutting off. How is the G16 governed? Thanks |

The governor is mechanical, no spark shut off.

Re: How Does the Governor Work...G16
Like Ron said and it simply keeps the throttle in the carb from opening all the way. The governor works off a bearing and spring type collar that moves it back and forth in relation to rpms.
