Hey Shawn,

Didn’t see it mentioned, Im Sure you know by now, but the A87 in The serial number means it’s a 36v 1987 club car.
I’ve been working on my A81 that I picked up for $100 buck and started basically at the same spot as you... the angle aluminum under the seat is for the batteries and there is no tie downs that I know of, they just sit snuggly as pairs. Some of mine were really corroded so I went to Lowe’s and got some aluminum angle pieces of similar size and just laid them right over the original ones, worked like a champ.
I unbolted the body pieced, did a quick sand over everything, and used Pepboys auto paint on mine and it worked like a champ for pretty cheap... if your competent with a rattle can of course.
Wife did the seat in a couple days with some marine vinyl, it did take a bit of corner sewing and tucking, but she was ocd about it...
I’m not sure about the 1987, but the 1981 topped out at a break neck 12mph full throttle, so you should be able to catch the girls pretty quick... on foot if need be... lol
The breaking on my still needs some TLC, but I can tell you, it is man-u-al with no help from anything! My 11yr old daughter bumped my truck, because she couldn’t stand on the pedal hard enough on a slope... but again, they may not be in all that great a shape.

I know I’m not a wealth of technical info, but good luck and I look forward to see the end result! I’m trying to switch to LiFePO4, and that is a whole other animal for these classics. Let me know if you go down that rabbit hole.

Good luck!
