95 Club Car DS Tachometer Question
I've looked through many threads on this website as well as others and couldn't find a straight answer,
I have a 95 club car DS, I have bypassed the governor and removed the ground wire from the rev limiter so I thought it was time for a tach. I bought the iEquus 8068, wired everything up with the inductive wire on the spark plug wire (Didn't cut the brown wire) and set it as per the table in the instructions for # of cylinders. Went for a cruise and the needle jumps all over the place, from 5000 rpm to 1000 then back to 2000. Is there a more reliable way to wire these things not using that inductive wire? |

Re: 95 Club Car DS Tachometer Question
I have inductive and it is very accurate and stable. Try more or less wraps around plug wire.

Re: 95 Club Car DS Tachometer Question
This tach came with a grey clamp that went around the plug wire, no wraps. Still can't get it to read accurately

Re: 95 Club Car DS Tachometer Question
There is a member here goes by etech he has developed a sensor kit.
That works well with any of the Glow shift tachs that say they work on engines from 1-10 cylinders. The sensor is mounted the starter/generator pulley and clocks RPM from there. He sold me the kit so this is what I am going with. I think it is Very inexpensive for what you get. |

Re: 95 Club Car DS Tachometer Question
I re-routed the wire away from the power sources, isolated the ground and then aluminum taped the wire as well as the inductive clamp and now it seems to be working.

Re: 95 Club Car DS Tachometer Question
The tachometer is nice and solid up to 3500 RPM then it starts bouncing all over the place

Re: 95 Club Car DS Tachometer Question
My sun super III started doing that and no matter what I tried the situation did not improve.Switched to the equus 8068 and it worked from the get go.Midwest super cub has a tach designed for 1 and 2 cyl engines and supposed to be foolproof, but it is $200.

Re: 95 Club Car DS Tachometer Question
I'm thinking it might be the tach itself. I had to set for 2 cyl to get to read properly but I still can't get it to stop dropping out above 3500 RPM. Could be the tach warning me to slow down.

Re: 95 Club Car DS Tachometer Question
I have my rev limiter disabled, I doubt that's an option for me
