Default Club car runs rough

Hi: I have a 2007 XRT 810 gas utility vehicle.
After the previous winter wherein it was stored
without a stabilizer in the gas, it would hardly
start and stay running until I removed and cleaned
the carburetor. After the more current winter where
I used a stabilizer it started and ran fine for a while
till last month when it started running rough. It would
start up fine but would run too rough to even be usable.
I've removed the carburetor again and cleaned it and
thought I'd fixed it when I first started and began to drive
it but almost immediately could hear and feel the roughness.
I suppose another more thorough cleaning is in order but
wonder if this easy starting and moving smooothly with
normal power that's gone within a minute indicates something
else is the problem. Thanks

When was the last time you replaced the spark plug?
And... the intake tube and air box lid have to be intact, and secure, or it will run like that!

Carefully look for wasp nest-

We had a, mud dabber wasp nest in our air intake line

My wife was starting the cart and I saw a couple fly out of the choke button

this was a matter of 6 days, running fine- to not starting- the wasps had the air hose almost completely blocked

Thank you gentlemen. Haven't ever changed the spark plug.
Got a new one and can't find out what the gap's supposed to
be. Great story about the wasps. I'll check. That's just the
kind of thing that would happen around here.

Ok. Got the new spark plug
and correctly gapped. Thanks.
Didn't seem to help much so
took apart the air filter thing
and found empty peanut shells
sitting in the intake air scoop
(not sure what to call it. It's the
intake for the air filter) where it
meets the air filter box. Got those
out and hooked up a vacuum cleaner
to get the intake cleans out.
The cart and I go for victory lap
and retire for the day.
Next day it's running rough again.
Ran the cart without using the intake
scoop (just the air filter) and seems
to run fine. Don't know what to think
of the elaborate air scoop that runs
under the chassis all the way I think to
behind the dashboard. I think there's
more peanut shells or even mice in there
but cannot see where the air or mice are
eventually let in. Removing the scoop looks
impossible. Ideas?

very similar thing with my wifes car- 2009 Nissan Rouge- Mice kept building nests in the air intake and closing it off. We still have never found out where they got this string- like in a baseball or softball

The dealer tech told her to get a bar of irish spring ( swear to God) cut in half length ways and see what happens

the little heathens have not built a nest in there for over 2 years now

Definitely will get some irish spring.
The little traitors here used my own
peanuts against me. I understand they
have to make a living too but did they
have to put their compost in my air
intake?

In cars it seems fine to use air from
the engine compartment for the carburetor.
Why an elaborate air intake tube in a
utility cart? It runs to under the dash board.
I don't think I can get the thing out of the cart
to clean out the peanut shells and whatever
else might be in there.

Anyone know if it's Ok just to bypass that
long air intake tube and filter air from near
the engine? Thanks

I have thought about junking mine. Just seems like a lot of restriction and something to get clogged up. If nothing else just drill some holes in the lower half of the filter box and get some of those airbox vents they market to the atv guys.

There IS a reason why that duct is there!
On the 92 to 96 DS's, the air only came through the choke button,
and in my opinion, is fairly noisy with the in-rushing/sucking of air.
With that duct, you have better, less noisy air flow, but still have the use of a choke button!
I think it's routed up under the drivers side wheel well, for not only noise and air flow, but water protection also!

I have seen a few that have removed the duct with no ill affects,
but they had to stay away from creeks and deep puddles to keep water from getting in the air box!
(due to the exposed "ex-duct" hole in the bottom of it)

NOTE: Do NOT drill holes in the bottom of the air box!
I did that the first week I had my cart thinking "More air is better"!
boy... was I WRONG! it ran like crap! (I had to replace the bottom of my air box!)

My only suggestion is to raise the front end on jacks or ramps, remove the air box,
and use a wire clothes hanger to "swish" the nuts loose, so they come close to the air box opening,
and suck them out with a shop vac!
