Rebuild or replace older motor
I got a 1987 Carryall that the front was demolished. It has a flathead in it that burns oil and smokes.
I have rebuilt the front and used walnut to cover the frame, then I took the bed off and added a rear seat that flips for a carry platform. My question is whether to rebuild or replace and update the motor. This is new to me and I have no idea as to cost of either. I have restored old tractors which included rebuild engines so I have some knowledge of rebuilding and would do most of the work myself. Any comment or advice is welcome. |

Re: Rebuild or replace older motor
I'd replace as I have a good engine in my 90 but its really a turd compared to the 99.
I'd at least buy a 13 HP engine in it |

Re: Rebuild or replace older motor
the flathead engines are sort of hard to find parts for, but you can get them ocassionally, if you go ith a ohv engine would deffinnetley be better, they last a lot longer, your looking around 800 to buy a rbuilt one,
