1994 Yamaha G8
I just wanted to say Hello and that I enjoy reading the different posts in this forum. I also like looking at all of pictures of the infinite ways these carts can be modified. Its been very helpful.
I acquired a '94 G8 as my first cart a couple of weeks ago. I can not believe how addicting this rebuild project has become. So far I've got it running, the body parts at being painted, wheels are ordered. The original front cowl was damaged beyond repair. I had no luck finding a G8 cowl, so I went with a G16 cowl. I had to replace the crankcase seal, primary clutch, and now the secondary sheave as well. With the body parts off, I also installed the Yamaha speed spring not to mention all of the cleaning and degreasing. I hope to have everything back next week to so I can start reassembling. |

Re: 1994 Yamaha G8
Thanks, I''ll try to get some pics posted.
Sabercat, Love the picture of your cart by your Rev. I plan on using my cart as a pit vehicle at the drag strip where I asphalt race my 07 Ski Doo 800 Rev. I had my side panels painted Ski Doo yellow which is the same color I'm having the G8 painted. I'm hoping it turns out good. |

Re: 1994 Yamaha G8
Finally figured out how to get pictures from my phone to my computer so I could post a few. This is how the G8 looked after a good pressure washing. Here is one with the new wheels. Here it is with the body painted. This is going to be my pit vehicle at the race track for my snowmobile. I still have a lot more work to do. I just haven't decided which way to go for the bumpers and rocker panels. Black or Aluminum. Any suggestions on what you think would look best would be appreciated.

Re: 1994 Yamaha G8
Great job on the cart yamadoo. I like the painted headlight bezels as well. That's a bad a** looking sled. Looks like that would be a fun ride.

Re: 1994 Yamaha G8
Thanks. I also was very pleased with how the light bezels turned out. After I got them and saw all of the black, I thought I made a mistake on the type of lights that I bought. I called my guy at the body shop and asked about painting and he said no problem. So I sent him the bezels along with the seat backs. In addition to painting them, he also used an epoxy to "smooth" them out. He did a great job on all of the paint work.
There is still more to do, such as the seats. I'm thinking of either black & white or yellow & white with maybe some black piping. I also need to put a front bumper on it, but want to fabricate a "cradle" to lift and support the rear of the snowmobile (by its bumper) in order to be able to push it to the staging lanes at the track. I've got until nest season to figure that one out though. The sled is basically a stock Ski Doo 800 with an after market pipe and clutch kit. The quickest pass of the year was in Martin, MI. - 10.14 seconds at 122 mph in the quarter mile. At our home track, the sled will run pretty consistently in the 10.30's at 119+ mph. |
