How to bench test EZGO starter.
My son got a free EZGO workhorse 800g and can't get the starter to work. Is there an easy way to bench test this thing? The chassis wiring has been screwed with so part of the prob could be in there but he jumped the starter directly and gets only a slow rotation.
He cleaned up the brushes and commutator but no change. He's getting new brushes possibly today cause they're worn down pretty good he says. Hopefully he'll be joining the site tonight too. JohnF Phoenix |

Re: How to bench test EZGO starter.
We have manuals in the tech section that have wiring diagrams that could be helpful. Page G-14 of the service/tech manual has the hookup of the start/gen. http://products.jacobsen.com/img/manuals/605586.pdf .normally when you hook 12v to them on the bench they'll jump off if your not hanging on to them real well.

Re: How to bench test EZGO starter.
My son called me last night...it was just the brushes. Spins over just fine now.....but won't start. Well, what do you want for free. This is the enjoyable part for me, diagnosing and fixing the problems except I'm in Phoenix and he's in Palm Springs. Now we gotta do it long-distance.
