Re: G14 rebuild kit?
A new belt will always be tighter than a old one thats why you will notice a SMALL loss of top end speed but you should gain a better climb and dig. If it was for sure 155 then it souds good to me, I would still get some good quality oil along with a can of seafoam for your gas and atleast 91 oct 93 if you can find it in your area. Also have you adjusted your valves yet????

Re: G14 rebuild kit?
Also when you drain your oil make sure you take the time to get every last drop out of it and refill it with one qt ONLY no matter what the dipstick reads then with a file or somthing mark the new fill point on the dipstick and that is your new full mark. Due to the lift the engine now sets on a pretty good slope and will give you a false reading with your stock dipstick marks. also you said you where going up hill and experienced the problems and smoke that tells me you could be overfull on the oil even if you swear your not.

Re: G14 rebuild kit?
Post the part# Keep in mind the belt you had could have just been very old and worn out so the new one wold have more to it as it would be tighter. its just hard to help you judge from 100s of mile away lol...

Re: G14 rebuild kit?
J55 g6421 00. and it wasnt a small drop in top end it was like 5 mph. I rode it maybe a mile and it made a bump noise. I stopped and the belt was twisted and warped still on the pulleys. And the SOB was hot as fire and smoking.(the belt not cart)
