Default g-14 surge tank?

I have a g-14 that is missing some intake parts (according to Yamaha’s online part catalog), surge tank and duct between tank and air filter assembly. Calling local places looking for the parts and I’m being told that this cart doesn’t have a surge tank. I had this cart for about a year and it runs a little ruff, this site has taught me that the air intake is VERY important. Anyone have or not have this surge tank? Is not having one the reason it’s not running good?

For those that have never seen a surge tank, #21 is the surge tank.

I have a G14 with the surge tank. I've ran it without it and it runs the same. If it's running rough it may be something else. Maybe needs a good tune up.

that's the same diagram that i saw. so not having one is not a big deal? it pops here and there through the carb. fuel pump has been rebuilt with new filter ill go to carb next to see if thats the problem. thanx for responses.

Check part #2 . Plastic intake have been known to crack. Also put the air box together off the cart to make sure the seal is good.
