Default Honds GX670

I stuck a Honda GX670 24hp v twin on my ride and although it runs our pretty good I have some low speed issues. The carb sat for a year with gunk in it so I have to disassemble it and clean it out. The fuel shut of solenoid was stuck and frozen and I couldn't get it moving so a buddy said o just take out the plunger and remember to turn off the gas. Like I said it runs out strong but wont idle. Any fuel additives that might help it "clean out" and do I need that solenoid?

There's no magic potion that does a legit job of cleaning a crudded-up carb.

Got to thoroughly clean the jets. The fuel solenoid is not necessary on a cart.

Hi,

I have a remote tank that is above the carb, do I need a fuel solenoid in that case?

An inline petcock is a cheap solution, instead of the solenoid.

I have the same engine. For what its worth, The solenoid is inexpensive and I've kept on my motor. It works automatically when the key is on and off. It doesn't hurt anything to use it. Just gotta keep fuel fresh or with a stabilizer in it. Plus, I know when key is off, fuel isn't pushing on the float and can help act as an "anti-theft" device if ya wire it to a hidden switch.

Just seem easier for me to keep it, rather than try to do all the other stuff.

I like seafoam, but if it got really gunked up you at minimum need to take it off and spray carb cleaner through all the jets and passages, spray out the bowl, that is what I would call a quickie carb clean. If it say sat only one winter something like seafoam will clean it usually but worse you need to be sure it does not have chunks in it or it may just quit on you if one gets up in there.

Heres a trick I learned years ago working on old carburetors that new parts and gaskets are hard to come by and thats to soak them in straight pine-sol. It won't hurt any rubber and if you give it a day or two, more if you can, it will clean the carb up looking and running like a brand spanking new one.

I won't under any circumstances stick anything in a jet to clean it out. The pine-sol hasn't let me down in nigh on 40 years now. No wires to be put in any passageway on a carb for this old man
