Default Thumping from left rear wheel?

Good day Golf cart Guru's, I am having a new issue. Yesterday my 2000 TXT started to make a thump sound from the left rear tire. At first I thought it was a rock in the tread but it is not. Now if you drive it after about 50 feet it sounds like a horse galloping down the street. I have noticed that in reverse it does not seem to do it. Also in neutral the clutches work just fine and there is no noise. Lastly with every thump/clack there is a serge in power., it feels like a tire out of round as it makes you move, you can really feel it. However the tires are fine, I even swapped them to make sure. Makes me thing a tooth is missing some where. I am hoping this is just the left hub and not an axle. Any thing else I should try or look at before tearing it apart? It got a lot worse of the course of the day so it is sitting put now.

Does it seem to matter what speed you are going? Seems weird it does it in forward and not reverse, is why I ask.

Starts of low and slow, then as speed picks up it gets worst. Once it does start though it does not matter what speed, it is louder the faster you go. But the jolt you get when it is loud is very noticeable. It is pulsing. I did also note that in a fast tight turn in either direction it goes away. IT also happens when coasting in neutral.

Get it up on jack stands and spin the wheels and/or the driven clutch by hand and see if you can locate to sound.

Will do, picking it up from the campground tomorrow afternoon. I did have a brave friend hang over the side the other night trying to locate it. He said it was loudest near the left tire. I'll get it home to take a better look. Ironically when trying to do the brakes in the spring I could not get the hubs off no matter what I did. So looks like I am grinding off come retention clips... I appreciate the feed back guys. Also note with it in neutral I can run up to full speed and there is no noticeable sound or lurch. I am hoping it is just the hub but I guess I will find out later in the week.

Keep us posted on what you find. I'm curious what it ends up being.

I just replaced my shocks on a 1984 ezgo and the left rear started thumping as soon as I drove off. Can't figure it out. Have had the wheel off, brake hub off, readjusted brakes, cleaned everything, checked differential fluid, won't stop thumping. ANy suggestion is a good one at this point.

Maybe the new shock is defective.

You might have something broken in the brake on that side
