Re: Piston Firing
I have pulled at least 50 drive clutches off and never once had to remove the engine . Got to know the trick Carts with lift kits a little more trouble but still got em off without removing the engine.
Both spark plugs fire at the same time . No distributor needed for this setup . |

Re: Piston Firing
lol
you'd certainly know better than me. I haven't tried on a TXT but I know my workhorse, there was no way you could even get to the clutch bolt with the engine installed. Let alone get the puller tool in to pop the clutch loose... The frame was right there in front of you blocking access. Unless you made an "access hole" through the frame with a hole saw like on the Gator (thank you John Deere for that!). That thought DID cross my mind... Don't think i'd want to try to really mess with it in the cart though. it's not hard to remove it, and so much easier to deal with on the workbench. |

Re: Piston Firing
It will run fine with wires crossed. Don't matter which one goes to what plug .
I have had people ask me if both pistons go up at the same time then how in the world do the not get out of balance. That's where your balance shaft comes in handy. Pretty neat set up . These Robbin engines are quite and start off nice and smooth. Why in the world EZGO would not install these engines again is beyond my thinking. Just keep updating them like our Air Force has done with the almighty B-52. |

Re: Piston Firing
I am pretty sure it was a case of Subaru not being interested in keeping up with emission control on these engines that caused a bust up between Subaru/Robin and EZGO, and production of the little twin was dropped. I am really surprised that the entire engine was not copied by the Chinese, they copy most of the parts already!
PS, Dont tell anyone but i have a trailer full of these engines all rebuilt and ready for action. |

cb404g. I don't like to argue with people but I can tell you 100 % they fire at the same time.

Re: Piston Firing
So both pistons come up on compression stroke at the same time? or is it a waste spark design firing on the compression and exhaust stroke?

Re: Piston Firing
Clones, dual fire harleys all just fire the plug on the exhaust stroke. It saves having to bother with a distributor. No harm no foul. It is real clear by the cam lobes that is exactly what is being done here.
