2013 EZCO Gas Engine Intermittent Whining Noise
Hi, I'm new to the forum as far as signing up, but have been reading it for a few years now. I have an 2013 EZGO L6 that makes a very loud whining noise but only at medium speeds. When I first take off and going slow, its quiet, but then all of the sudden the noise comes out and won't go away until I am at nearly full speed. I put it on jack stands and took the belt off to see if it was coming from the rear end, but it still made the noise and sounds like it is coming from the white plastic fan wheel that is on the opposite side of the engine from the clutch/belts. I've searched everywhere and nothing I find shows this particular noise. Any ideas would be much appreciated!!

I do have video of this but its too large to post on here. I was thinking of uploading to Youtube and posting a link. This noise really baffles me and is very annoying and LOUD.

I think everyone is waiting for you to post a link to the youtube video. If you haven't been a member long enough to post links, just break it, and we will put it back together.

Definitely a tinny noise. I got the feeling it was something in the drive clutch moving.
Pull the spark plugs out, then turn the white fan by hand. See if you can feel something dragging. |

Did anybody else notice the lateral movement of the fan ? Looks like a lot of crankshaft end play ?

Okay so I pulled the plug and turned the white fan wheel. I didn't feel any dragging. I can't really pinpoint where it is coming from. I was hoping someone had the same noise and could ring in.

Re: 2013 EZCO Gas Engine Intermittent Whining Noise
I'm with rayhd, I think its something with the fan. The sound sounds like friction rub, it increases with rpm and changes as rpm increases. I think either the fan is rubbing or something is stuck inside the engine/fan shroud and is rubbing the fan blades. I'd be looking that direction.
It could be clutch related. Since the clutch is easy to remove, I'd take it off for inspection. |
