Re: Another new EZGO - ST350/MPT1200/Cushman Commander
Beaner, You Da MAN ... I'm hoping it's a solenoid issue as he says it clicks under the seat when it doesn't work (and I would guess there's a relay or solenoid involved with anything that draws that much juice) - but if that's not the case, then keep Your eyes open for a PM, hahahaha

Bring it! But don't look under the seat too long. There's a switch and a breaker, the rest is in the back!

Re: Another new EZGO - ST350/MPT1200/Cushman Commander
******, it's not fair - this is the first cart I ever bought off Ebay (it was *double* mislisted as a "Truster" hahahaha) but the PO knows a few Union guys I used to deal with in Chicago (yep - I actually used to have a real job, go figure) and he was great at filling me with pics and info during the auction (doesn't excuse the fact I showed up drunk Monday night after a killer afternoon of Dim Sum in Chinatown earlier, but that's another story) ... I'm just not sure whather to freak out or just laugh when I look at the whole deal "Big Picture".
Tomorrow I grab it at 4, that puts me Northbound on 294 outta Chitown in a Maxivan full of sound equipment hauling a trailer with no lights strapped upside-down to a utility cart with a cab in sh*t spring weather. During NB Rush Hour. Chances are, I'm going to exit for a rest/beer/et al .... See why I'm bitching about $1100? The fines ALONE could end up to be staggering (let alone the tab getting her here, LOL) |

Re: Another new EZGO - ST350/MPT1200/Cushman Commander
ALRIGHT ... 5 hours later and the new cart is home (normally about an hour each way, 2 accidents AND rush hour in Chitown, yeesh). Kind of a split decision overall, the night I went and looked at it before bidding last week it was dark and I'd had a beer or two, so after actually WINNING it I got my first good daylight look-see today ...
The cab has some surface rust, so if I do decide to use it it's going to be a pretty involved job - for now I think it just goes in the shop and that decision can be made later. Not a huge deal, but my first "bummer moment". The compression is as stated, 163 and 160, the fuel pump is shot (cracked, actually) but a funnel and some gas and away she fires, seems to run well, both clutches seem good (ran it on jackstands to make sure at least the basics were operational) ... frame is solid with nothing more than the few rusty spots one would expect from a 10yr old cart (a good pressure washing will help - WOW is she dusty) ... OKAY, now we're talking. All other electrical stuff works, check ... Feeling a little better. NOW, the bad. The clicking the PO was telling me about had nothing to do with the electric dump actuator, as there IS no actuator. There IS a switch however, that I traced to a relay (aftermarket) that has nothing attached to it anymore (evidently at one time there was something hooked to it, but it sure wasn't the dump) ... First strike, but not too disappointing as a little negotiating later and he knocked $150 off the price. So far so good. Bad number two, even though the EZGO website said that year CC2200 had a lift, in fact it's NOT much of a lift at all so I'm still going to have to figure something out, *might* do an axle flip, etc or may just pop for a decent Jakes kit, jury is still out. PO never said it had a lift, so that one was my own fault, minor disappointment at best. Bad number three, after about a half hour digging in the garage, he couldn't find the airbox. Strike two, another $50 knocked off the bid. Bad number 4, somewhere along the line someone took the armrests off the seat and they couldn't be located either. BAM - another $25 off the top. At this point, I figured that coming in out the door, gas and tolls included for closer to $900 than a grand was a GOOD thing and I'd just load it up. Paid the man, got the bill of sale, etc and we proceeded to push it onto the trailer backwards so the bed could hang over the tongue of the 8ft trailer ... Nope, not a chance. Spun it around, tried forward, nope. SO, now i'm 70 miles from home and I find out the gate isn't removable, so I'm not getting the cart home after all - wait, here come his 2 teenage boys up the driveway, here's an idea (which worked - see pic) 20130503_184618.jpg So all in all I'm pretty happy, I figure the couple hundred extra bucks off will cover the armrests, airbox, fuel pump, etc easily and help a bit with whatever I decide RE a lift (which I believe should be a 2001.5 Workhorse, having the 3-bolt steering box and cable brakes) - more to come in the AM after I get a buddy or two to help me lift the front end back over the trailer rail and seperate the cart from the trailer, LOL. This project is already proving to be as "Interesting" as the rest, I'm a happy guy !!!! |

Brew, I think you are out of controll!
I love my workhorse. They are real handy around the yard and with the BB, lots of fun on the trails. Let me know what you do with the cab. I may be interested........ |

Re: Another new EZGO - ST350/MPT1200/Cushman Commander
OK, morning has broken and I still haven't found anyone to help me lift the cart off the trailer, LOL - however I did some recon and I'm actually quite happy with the cart thus far ... NOW here come the questions.
First, it's a 3-bolt steering box, leaf springs front and rear. The front is basic EZGO, the rear is leaf springs with the axle on top of the springs. NOW, as to a lift kit, do I need anything special for the Workhorse or will any 2001.5-down EZGO kit work? I ask because as a rule, the Workhorse kits are about $100 more, and to look at the pics of the kits there doesn't seem to be any difference. Anyone who can clarify, I'd appreciate it greatly. Also, as to kits - this cart is likely going to see some pretty heavy trail use and hauling, although likely nothing more heavy-duty than I currently do with my Marathon (5" block lift) and the cargo basket I have on that cart ... I like the idea of a 6" as I mentioned, being as I have a set of 23's that I could throw right on there, but most I see are spindle lifts and that makes me a bit nervous because some of the trails around here are pretty rough (and I would think a drop-axle would be stronger) - I'm not too worried about clearance as obviously the rear can only go so far and I'm quite aware of the limitations of golf carts - any opinions as to which way to go, this cart is somewhat on a limited budget as I really dumped a LOT into the Yamaha over the winter and I'm already getting "the LOOK" regarding my new project, LOL. For now, it's off to the shop to break out the pressure washer and clean her up (LOTS of grime and dust, yeesh) and then to find a sucker, er, I mean "Buddy" to help me lift the front end up and over the trailer wall ... |
