Default 92 Marathon Ez go wont go up hill

Hi everyone, I have a 1992 Ezgo Marathon 4 stroke cart. I am using it in a campground where there are moderate size hills. The cart barley goes up the hills when I am on it and forget having a passenger in the cart while going up a hill. Any suggestions? The cart runs great on the level. When we approached our local golf cart repair garage and asked about putting a smaller belt on he said that was not a good idea? He did suggest that we remove the 6 or 8 bolts on the side of the clutch and turn the housing that covers the spring clockwise. Will that do anything. Any suggestions will be a big help.

Thanks
Jerry

Welcome to the Forum Jerry, These Guys will have a answer for you, I've learned a goob from here, If I was guessing I would say you need a new belt, that is what I'd try first. Just my 2 cents Good Luck

Popatop, when you had your clutch off can you remember if the center bolt that held it on was reverse thread or normal thread?

I do not know a lot about removing clutches. Is it spring loaded and do I need help when taking it off? Will I have trouble getting if back on?

10-4. I need to pull the clutch and I am hoping it does not come flying off when I loosen the bolt. I have a bad right arm to due a work injury. How did you loosen the bolt and keep the clutch from spinning?
