Default Stereo intall in gas Ez Go

I'm getting ready to install my radio in my cart and havea couple of questions.

First, I have read that I should hook the ground wire directly to the frame instead of the battery as recommended in the instruction manual. Is this correct?

Second, my radio is a marine radio that will not draw any power and writes all information (presets etc.) to memory on the radio so there is only one power wire. I will be hooking this into the keyed power on switch so the radio will only be on when the key is turned on. Does this sound correct?

Third, Do I need an antenna to make the radio operational? Of course my car does not have an antenna and I didn't even think about needing one until I started reading the instructions. I have heard that the antenna connection is kind of like a ?secondary? ground and must be hooked up to operate.

My cart is a 06 Ez Go gasser.

All sounds good. For the antenna just cut a 3ft piece of wire, strip about 2-3inches of one end, fold it over once or twice and shove it in. Works great

I have a 99 gas and I grounded to the battery. No problems yet... I recommend the directions!

Might want to consider adding in a toggle switch that way you can play the radio if you are sitting stilll. I havent read much about adding a second battery for the full blown radios. But i think it wouldnt be a bad idea would hate to kill the battery when away from camp.

I hooked it up to my key switch. If you turn off the cart the radio goes dead but still saves your presets.
