Re: Drive Belt Question
Sometimes an auto parts store can hook you up. Take it with you and tell them you want 1" shorter. It's worth a shot.

Re: Drive Belt Question
It has been almost a week since i change my drive belt to a shorter one. My cart is alot slower I am thinking about putting my OEM belt back on. Does a 2 stroke run better in higher RPMs, and if so wouldn't the longer belt allow the engine to turn faster?

Re: Drive Belt Question
This is a rather silly question, but can somebody lead me to a belt change thread? I searched and searched.... I want to know what all has to come off. My belt now is missing cogs and is pretty slippy down low. The sheaves look great though.

Re: Drive Belt Question
nothing has to come off. grab the top of the belt and give it a sharp yank. the driven clutch will separate enough to let the belt sit down a bit inside it. this will allow you to roll the belt over the edge of the driven clutch.

The shorter belt should hold the clutch at a lower gear ratio for a little longer than stock. It will, in some cases, slow down the top speed. My cart is a 4 cycle, but I didn't like the short belt. The throttle response was jerky, the engine stayed in the lower ratio longer than I liked and I lost some top speed. Some are very difficult to shift from forward to reverse with the short belt until it breaks in. I run a 28 degree clutch with the stock size HD belt. So, yes. The higher rpm, the better it will run.
