Default 1992 yamaha starter pulley

just got this cart. owner said it did not run. when i push the acc. pedal down to start the cart, the pully on the starter comes off. it seems to be a two piece pulley. the nut just spins off. any suggestions. thanks.

It sounds as if you are missing the woodruf key part 25

the shaft does not have a slot for a key. i have tightened the nut again, and it seems to be holding. now it doesnt seem to be getting fuel. still checking things out. thanks for the reply.

the shaft for the pulley should have a key. no fuel? hole in a line,pump bad,bad vacuum line,fuel filter plugged, fuel pump bad. check it all.

ok, have fuel coming out of the fuel pump. have good spark.
still no signs of it wanting to start. i guess the next step is the carb.
