Default G9 running issue,maybe seizure.

I have a 93 g9 that has not been driven since November last year. Yesterday it started after a little choking and seemed okay. Did not drive it. When I finally went to run it and burn the old fuel out of the carb to clean up the starting and hesitation it ran hot on me. I looked at the carb and the choke was stuck a bit and opened it up. Ran fine. Put the skis in the lake ,drove it around the campground.Fine.
Went for a ride last night and thats where the problem happen.
We went down hill (on road) quite fast and on the way up the hill it started going slower and slower. It was as if it was having an engine seizure.I would actually say something seized. The engine would not budge with the gas pedal depressed.

So this morning it starts and idle okay, then if you give it the slightest bit more gas it has a horrible grinding sound that goes with the revolution of the engine.High pitch metal squeel.

Things I have checked are :
Oil
Took the drive belt off to see if it made a difference. NOPE
Took the carb apart to look for obstuctions (just for the overheating part)
Inspected the stock clutch (that is where the sound is coming from, easy to move in and out)
Took off the valve cover and rotated the engine(all works like it should)
Took the plug out and rotated the engine(can hear the compression)

I can move the clutch by hand in and out very easily. Honestly the engine seems ok. Unless it is the crank? Like I said it will start up easy,I have not tried to drive it or rev it too much because of the load sound.

So what is it, clutch or crank? I am at a loss.
Thanks for the help!

Update. Ran it until the bad squeel went away. And it did! Now only have low speed so the clutch must be shot.
Pulls good though.

Did you check the OIL! Dirty or clean? Take dip stick in sun, look for metal filings in oil on dip stick.

Grease the zirk on both clutches, only a couple pumps each!

Then start reading and doing maintenance!

Good luck Mike

So, what is a good clutch?
Comet. Mine is for sure bad. It was always noisy anyway since that is how it became black thunder!

Just wanted to ask this question before I buy a clutch.

Can the clutch cause the engine to stop? Like a seizure.
I was able to limp my stand ups out of the lake with low speed but the cart stopped half way uphill. We helped it along alittle then it did fine as long as I went 2 mph.

Before I spend 350 on a clutch I need to know if my engine is okay.

Maintenance my friend, before you spend money!

You need to know what's wrong first.

I definitely know the clutch is stuck in its outward position. The cart is at the lake and I have not had a chance to bring it home. But the clutch I know is stuck. I tried the grease but no effect.
