Default Carb jets

Been having over heating problem on my 1994 g9, put different jet in carb to see if I was running to lean, wanting to know after putting larger jet in cart doesn't hardly run, but when I pull out choke cart doesn't run perfect but runs much better with choke out. So my question is, is the jet to big or to small to make it act this way?

Don't know what set up you have, but usually when it runs better with the choke pulled, that indicates that there is an air leak in the filter box area meaning its sucking air. The filter box has to be sealed so it only draws air through the snorkel. I sure yamaha does that for longevity, so the motor only uses clean air, to help make them last longer. There could also be a crack in the plastic spacer between the carb. and the head. Hard to see until you remove it and look for cracks. when you do this it may be good to change the 2 intake gaskets there, because old gaskets usually get hard with heat and age. These things need to be known to be correct, before you can jet.

Can't tell you what jet size is stock, mine has been modified.

Good luck, Mike

Just put on a new plastic spacer and gaskets today at the same time as the jets, sprayed starting fluid around carb area while running did not change to way motor ran so I am assuming there are no leaks around car. I will check air box closer tomarrow. Is there any other places for any kind of vacuum leak?

There is an O- ring gasket in the air filter top, and the 4 rubber straps need to be on. But all the interior parts need to fit in their little slotted channels. Take the whole filter canister out of the car and assemble it at your work bench to make sure its done correctly.

It seems as if you are not getting enough fuel. If you are certain there are no air leaks between the carb and the engine block then you need to look at the carb to see why you are not getting enough fuel. The idle passage ways could be partially blocked or you could be getting air from a worn throttle shaft seal. Is the carb the right one for your cart? Assume nothing and inspect everything no matter how trivial it might seem.
