Default Precedent idle kit - problems?

During a visit to a local CC dealer yesterday, I asked about an idle kit for my 2007 Precedent gas. I've seen them mentioned in this forum and notice they're for sale on ePay and by sponsors.

The employee asked why I wanted it? Reply: "I just do."

He advised against it and said he replaces “rear bearings” frequently because of gas carts being modified to idle, and at $400 per fix, does not recommend allowing the cart to idle.

I’ve read a lot about making them idle with a kit or by cutting and splicing wires, but I never read any side effects aside from belt wear if the idle is too high.

Any known problems with installation of an idle kit on the Precedents?

Possible belt wear? yep!,
Possible drive clutch sheave wear? yep!,
Possible overheating from letting it idle too long? yep!
Possible damage to the transaxle when shifting into gear if the idle is too high? yep!

But, rear bearings?
I don't know how that could be possible sitting at a stand still, just idling!

What he is talking about is the bearing in the transaxle on the input shaft. If the cart idles much in neutral the bearing on the input shaft opposite the pulley end starves for lubrication. I solved this problem on the 5 carryalls at work by changing from a shielded bearing to a sealed bearing, Have since been told that Club Car is supposedly doing this as factory now.
