Old Gas Clubcar, no igntion switch.
Hi,
Recently bought a house and as part of the sale they had a garage full of bits and bobs and machinery which they left behind. As such after pulling everything out to make space at the back there was an old gas club car, however where the ignition switch should be is just the wires. I have asked the previous owners and they say it hasn't been run in years. As such was wondering whats the likelihood it will still run/ how much repairs would be needed to get it running! Obviously my first task would be to get an ignition switch and go from there, being in the UK its not the easiest to source and as such was wondering if there is anyway to fit a toggle switch of some form instead of a key switch? If not how do i ascertain what the model is to source a key. I believe its a pedal start cart. (Pictures to follow) |

Welcome to BGW Richard!
It's just my opinion... but, almost EVERY golf car is worth getting running! and that CC looks to be in pretty good shape! |

Gas Club Car key switch wiring is kind of weird! not a standard hot wire, or toggle switch install...
Key Switch wiring.jpg I've heard of others installing a 2 position/2 pole switch, but, nobody ever came back and explained how they did it! |

Trust my luck :p
In that case i will have to source a new ignition. Do you know any likely stockists in the UK or a company who will USPS it over? |

Re: Old Gas Clubcar, no igntion switch.
Here is an ebay listing for a 1983.5-1995 Club Car gas ignition switch that will ship worldwide:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/CLUB-CAR-GAS...7745c8&vxp=mtr There are many more as well. Maybe even some listed in the UK Ebay which would arrive sooner. Might want to take a look at your drive and starter/generator belts to see if they are needed as well. And maybe a tune-up kit. All available on Ebay as well. But first make sure of the year of your cart to be sure to get the correct parts. Good Luck. Hope you get it running. |

Re: Old Gas Clubcar, no igntion switch.
Thanks for that, i will definitely confirm the year once home. My son was having a look through boxes and has come across this ignition. Looks like its the one but as expected no keys and the front looks like a screwdriver or something has been shoved in. would still definitely want to get a new ignition though! from what the previous owner has said it did start two years ago but would crank for a while with the pedal depressed before starting..... would that be due to a faulty/worn starter?
all replies are much appreciated... on a learning curve with this one! cheers |
