Re: need to change carryall IV key start to pedal start
like a car. Turn the key from the on position to start while depressing the pedal and it will start. Once the pedal is lifted enough for the microswitch to to be open the ignition shuts off. Idle has nothing to do with it. Once the pedal is depressed enough for the microswitch to be activated you can turn the key to the start position again and the engine will restart. It has always been like this and it is annoying....

Re: need to change carryall IV key start to pedal start
Sounds like the key is a momentary that provides power to the activation circuit so when you press the pedal it starts. Then once the solenoid is pulled in, it provides power until the micro is released. If the only thing the key does when turned is give this start capability, you could just wire around it.

Re: need to change carryall IV key start to pedal start
Every key start Club Car I've ever seen, starts with the key, idles, and shuts down with the key!
Looking at a wiring diagram for a key start CA 6... The only thing I could think of that would make it react like what yours is doing smokey, is... There is a relay for the key start ignition circuit in the Electrical Components box that could be bad! At least that's what the troubleshooting guide tells me! |

Re: need to change carryall IV key start to pedal start
Anyone have a link to to the diagram for a key start and a pedal start? I would like to compare the two and see how hard it would be to make mine pedal start again

Re: need to change carryall IV key start to pedal start
are you talking about the microswitches? carryall 6 has 1 and and a standard club car has 2. I know what everyone said it is supposed to do being a key start but this one has been this way for 12 years and doesnt look like it has ever been tampered with. Just want it more user friendly. Either stay running with key or work like a standard club car.

Re: need to change carryall IV key start to pedal start
Look Smokey... Straight up? replace the relay in the ECB and see if that helps your situation, if it's not it, it's not gonna cost you a lot!
sadly, in your case, it's a matter of process of elimination! there aren't a lot of members with key start carts, and it seems I'm the only one that wants to help you, and yet, learn about them myself! .02 |
