Yes on the fe motors the cylinder head does not come off. You have to crack open the case. Do big deal.

Dammmm, I was hoping it wasn't like that.
I was hoping it was easy like removing the head & jug like on some small engines.
Well if I have to do all that, is it better to do an entire rebuild from bottom to top?
Or just do the top rebuild only?
Or just do a clone swap?
What would a rebuild cost? Just a rough estimate?
Top rebuild or entire rebuild?

To me The fe290 always has enough power. The clones motor does give you more torque for sure. But they are noisy. Also the valve train is noisy. The rebuild kit comes with new piston and valves and all the gaskets. Ive never had to replace bearings that go on the crank. The rod on kawaskis is also the bearing. But there usually good just inspect it. 250 for rebuild. Also I don't think your going to find clone motors that will last for 20 years like the Kawasaki engines do.

Good point. $250 isn't bad at all

Please explain the socket extention puller method?

needed to get one off quick and didnt want to wait on the puller to arrive. Bolts are not strong enough they will crush. But socket extensions are made out of high quality steel. I cut a 1/4 " socket extension 5 1/2" long then use the bolt that will tread into the clutch. Dont know the size of it. Works for me every time.
