Rear End Locked up
I picked up a 09 Club Car Precedent as a project I’m new to golf carts but the rear end was locked up. I figured it was the brakes after jacking it up and removing the drums I found the axles spin mounted tires with no drums just to be able to move around but after lowering jack found the rear ended is still locked. Now need your advice as to what I should do next as per the previous owner the motor was bad but it’s still in the cart like I said earlier I’m new to golf carts so any help would be greatly appreciated

Re: Rear End Locked up
If the axles spin with it in the air, but don’t when it’s on the ground then it sounds like the differential. I would remove the motor and inspect the gears as your next action.

Rear End Locked up
I’ve seen a ton of locked up motors and never a locked up rear end. Remove the motor and see if it is still locked up. Then go from there. The axles will still spin even if the motor is locked, but they will only spin in opposite directions from each other

Re: Rear End Locked up
Thanks for all the help I tried to pull the motor out but it seems like it’s stuck in the transaxle but I was able to rock the car back and fourth and was able to break it loose. Anyone know if I am able to get the motor out of the transaxle will still be good or if it’s going to be ruined

Re: Rear End Locked up
This is a flood cart isn’t it? Those are all over the place here. Motor may not be worth it if salt water got in it, and removing it might be a horrible job. Is it rusted to the input shaft on the rear end?

Re: Rear End Locked up
Typically the transaxle is fine after removing a stuck motor.

Re: Rear End Locked up
It is a flood cart and I’m not worried about saving the motor I just don’t want to separate them and both parts be junk I figured if the transaxle is still good it would be worth it

You won’t hurt the rear end but you may have to remove it and drop it sideways. Flip one of the brake drums around and let the armature’s weight remove itself. Club Car DS driver’s club #59 |
