2000 DS speed sensor magnet problem
I have a 2000 club car DS s/n A004495320 power plus drive motor with a broken speed sensor magnet. Called club car and was told the part is no longer available and that the GE part # is 161L505AE001 . The tag on the motor says Federal not GE. Where can I get a new speed sensor magnet and will the cart run without it.

Re: 2000 DS speed sensor magnet problem
Gary, that is a Regen 2 cart and you do not need it. You can actually unplug the speed sensor and then on the 2nd solenoid on your cart (has the resistor coil on it), remove the cable from both sides and connect them together (and insulate them so they do not short-out to anything) or if long enough, just run the one coming from the controller side straight down to the motor or you can make a longer one and replace it. It will run just fine without it.
Whatever you do, do not bypass the solenoid and leave the speed sensor plugged in or if it operates, you will face plant into the windshield.... (Experience compliments of my other brother billy-bob! ) |
