USB install - can I tie into other indash wires
Late mode Precedent. I installed Madjack head light/tail kit and a voltage equalizer, a small one as I dont't plan to use it for much. No radio...
Installing a 2x USB 2.1amp each. It has an fuse in line, and does have a light indicator that stays on with power. Is it safe to tap off the hot wires on the Madjack switch or do I need to run back to battery? The light ring around it should be nothing of a draw, correct? I really don't want to install a second switch or relay if not needed. When not in use Cart will be plugged in. Thanks from a newbie |

Those should be tied into a voltage reducer for the best operation and to make sure you don't fry anything that you plug into them.

If that's all you are going to tie into it I don't see a problem with it.

Yes, you can use the 'hot' side of light switch for the USB power. And you can find the negative for the USB near the left side of the dash panel; it is a Black with Yellow tracer. I, personally wouldn't add a fuse for the USB since the light circuit is fused already. The 15 or 20A fuse on the light circuit is there for short circuit protection only. IMHO

Re: USB install - can I tie into other indash wires
Both my western cart (ezgo frame and drive system) came from the builder that way. There is one fused power + wire that powers all the accessories. Each one links to the next switch tapping off the one before it. This includes lights, fan system, radio, horn switch, trunk release. Been fine for 13 years. I never use everything at the exact same time but regularly use lights and radio at the same time with no issues. I did add a voltage reducer to pull from the whole pack but originally from the factory it was all off 2 batteries. I believe its a 20A fuse in-line fuse.
