And i would have to think your probably looking at a new spring now also. If it has gotten (cherry) red then im sure it has affected the steel. ya i know this is the least of your issues.

Is it a golf car model cushman or something else? Golf car models didn't have brake cables. Give me a better Idea of what you have.
